The Candyskins were a fantastic band, I lived in Oxford throughout the 90s and saw them play live many times, 4 great albums (this is from the first one "Space I'm In" real shame they never reached a wider audience, you should be able to pick all the albums up on Amazon for a reasonable price

I think it has a 60's/70's sound to it. Maybe because they used this song (the original Buffalo Springfield version released in 1967)in just about every Vietnam War movie produced. Also it doesn't sound much different from the original '60's version. The Candyskins did a good job covering it though.
