Procol Harum - A whiter shade of pale 1967

Uploaded by: gazsmash
Video Description:
We skipped the light fandango
Turned cartwheels cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
But the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
As the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
The waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly,
Turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, there is no reason
And the truth is plain to see.
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as wellve been closed
She said, Im home on shore leave,
Though in truth we were at sea
So I took her by the looking glass
And forced her to agree
Saying, you must be the mermaid
Who took neptune for a ride.
But she smiled at me so sadly
That my anger straightway died
If music be the food of love
Then laughter is its queen
And likewise if behind is in front
Then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
Seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
And attacked the ocean bed

Excuse me, but your ignorance is showing. You called me an Idiot. Typical ignorant male using the twat etc at a girl. I can understand how that would make you feel powerful to most women. Not to me. Yes we may end it. Your ignorant remarks are anything but original and you bore me.

Thank you FENDIN10, these are the type of comments that really contribute to watching these old vids! Hearing memories of those who were there when these songs were played on the radio, like my mom (one of her absolute faves in '67 by the way). That good ol' analog equipment may have sounded muddier that the clean digital we have today but damn could it PROJECT MUSIC! If you wanted to break windows, those old stereos were awesome!

Thank you, you're right about analog and I think most recording engineers would agree,
digital does not sound better it's just
easier and cheaper to use and the sound can
be manipulated, pitch correction etc,etc.

One of my buddies, who's a Vietnam vet, has an old 1962 Magnavox four speaker stereo and I'll take some of my vinyl over there and play it. Like I said, the sound is thick and muddy but it reaches the ear better. I asked Leonard, "How loud can you turn this thing up?" He says, "Oh you wanna hear?" And he CRANKED that sucker until the kitchen furniture began to rattle. But it didn't hurt my ears though that was the thing! It just filled the house!

God my Mom says I sang this song before I start talking .. She said I was not even a year old and never even try to say a word like most babies do when one day she was in the kitchen and heard me "singing" then she and my cousin and grandma came over and without saying anything to each either started listening to me .. And they all screamed at the time when realized I was trying to sing this song ..lol.. I probably heard it on the radio too much back in those days .. 1967 ..

You know...this song was very popular back when it was released on rock stations in 1972-73 tho' it was not new then. Kind'a like Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues. I remember it as being very popular in high school in the 70s but not at all from the 60s weird huh?
