Thanks, I'm a big Philip Glass fan and I'd always wanted to see some performance of his ballet music. Do you have by any chance anything from 'Einstein on the Beach'? It's his breakthrough theater piece with Robert Wilson. I'd sell my sould to Lucifer to see at least some clip of a performance of Einstein... anyone???

Remarkable. Twyla speaks dance the way Shakespeare spoke English. It's the same language we all use, but heightened in its nuance and depth. Fantastic costumes too, the choice for bright red toe shoes really accentuates the sweeping movement.

I saw this live today and it was such shit. Screw Twyla Tharp, that music is supposed to be the sound of something beautiful happening.

i have seen this live twice and it is absolutely amazing. i'm not sure if other ballet companies do this but american ballet theater has smoke going in the background which really adds a interesting effect.

yes, boston ballet has smoke in the back too and when the dancers come out it looks like they just appear from nowhere. because of the smoke. i love the whole effect.

hi dancie .... thanks for posting upper room on you tube ,,,, i am one of the dancers in this version that you used this is the filming we did for television .... thats why the costumes are white instead of the usaul grey prison stripes ...

Usually I am very anti-Twyla/anti-modern (super classical freak that I am). However, I actually ADORE "In the Upper Room". Although, I DO hate the coustumes. Ah well, you can't have everything...

It is a very nice performance. I like this gentle dance, the lighting.Though I like their dresses,too,I can`t decide if I like the idea with red socks.They stick out too much. Music is putting me to sleep.I like the ending when they disappear in the darkness very much.

yes they did it last season. for their opening rep this season they did three tharp ballets:Nine Sinatra Songs, and two world premieres.
