In conjunction with the release of my new book, Your Best Lie Now: The Gospel according to Joel Osteen, I did some open air preaching outside his church. I preached sin, repentance, Christ crucified, judgment and wrath to come, hell, and salvation... all things Joel doesn't preach on. As you can see, I wasn't very well received by either the people or the Lakewood staff(who formed a human barrier around me to keep people from talking to me).

HeReformedme, it,s kinda true, sin is bad for business, but it,s also bad to not move to a new subject at any school, and a church is a school of thought, regardless if u teach people about sin all day or living wealthy or whatever, so you want joel to talk about sin, for what if ever other american pastor is covering that view, when u as a believer r tired of spending yrs learning about sin, come over to joel osteens church and hear a new message for once n our lives and then move on 2 the next

Let me start by pointing out that a statement or an idea cannot be "kinda" true. It's either true or it isn't.

So then if this is the case, WHAT we are taught to think becomes the vital issue does it not? The Bible teaches that sin is an abomination against God. Joel teaches that sins are "mistakes" I won't mock Joel for wanting to be different, but I will mock him for calling his teaching Biblical.

So basicly you are saying that whenever I am tired of learning about who I am, and where I stand in relation to my creator, then I would fit in at Joel's church. My friend have you ever really understood the Gospel of Jesus Christ? If not I would be willing to discuss this with you in greater detail. You know it could be that our Savior is not as tolerant, and inclusive as some of us would like to think. PM me if you want.

A "christian" should preach salvation.If you want to get ahead on wordly things, seek the world and it's teachers.Anyone professing to be a Christian should have core values of what salvation is.If you don't believe in Christ and don't want to know him, then have your own way and save yourself.I'm not concerned about living the good live here & now,I am concerned about where I am spending eternity.Those of us who believe in the true Christ do not appreciate a compromised gospel that Joel teaches

ok, well then, a past historical event can not be true based on people faith in the future past the event, so arguing over it makes with the evidence of faith alone makes no no sense according to things true. one should not go throwing around the word true without knowing it for sure, no a conversation about a subjects one thing, but to call soemthing sound truth with no proof besides faith, faith isn't proof, it's an reaction expected by you from other that BELIEVE the same thing is TRUE?

one day hopefully you'll realize you are so much more than a sinner on the verge of being thrown in hell, this world and universe is so amazing, the bible doesn't have no authority over some the universe we try to squezze into world religions & theories. now u r willing to discuss the Gospel with me in greater detail, good, can we put the fact aside that you were not there at the exact moment to tell me the TRUTH of what really happened? zigzag1239 and those of who know the Gospels were compromised after the REAL TRUE jesus died(which none of use actaully knew,but like to pretend & tell people on youtube with a microphone!!)LOL, and how everyone started worshiping their messenger, like all messengers after their killed for unjust reasons, the scriptures are great & have very inpirational messages & alot more, but kissing jesus ass just so me & u get in to heaven & eternity, we discuss it like we really know, cause we read. hmm..

Are you suggesting that anything we know about history should be dismissed, based on the idea that we weren't there to see it? Am I to believe that JFK, and Lincoln may or may not have been assasinated because I was'nt there? Listen to what you are saying. Based on the logic you begin with, we can know absolutely nothing about history. What a shame it is, all the time and effort that is put into a history class, is all for nothing if you were'nt there to witness it.

My claim is that the Bible is our authority on what is acceptable doctrine and what is not acceptable doctrine. I say this because the Bible says it has such authority, and furthermore I believe the Bible is the inspired word of God. Now can we agree on these premises? If you want scripture to support this claim, please look at 2Tim.3-16, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

to mysanitysgone: I know Jesus and he knows me because I have a personal relationship with him. If you haven't experienced that and you want to, all you have to do is believe and ask and it will be done. If you don't want, then no one is going to force you, because it's a choice that we all have.

u don't have 2 convince me of anything, how come the things you believe in were given to u 2 believe, or did you have these revelation before being introduced to christainity and the things they say has authority? i guess u can call it a PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP? with that is what it really is is different. I know you feel something stronger than you are, ur then satisfied with christain mythology, scriptures, facts, historical place, etc.. since it was not ur discription of it to begin with. peace

I understand what you are saying, but I'm really not trying to convince you of anything, because it is something you have to know for yourself. I can only share my experience. And yes, I'm comfortable in my beliefs in Jesus Christ...not man. I looked at your page and it seems like you are searching for something and I hope you find the truth. What Joel is preaching is not what Holy Bible believing Christians believe, that's why I viewed this video and made comments.

First: you're judging me, rather publicly at that.
Second, read the very next verse. "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. " (Matt 7:2) We're already held to God's standards so I'm not bringing anything onto myself.
Beyond that, Jesus constantly told people to repent and preached in the same manner I am doing here. Should Jesus repent? You certainly need to.

You sir do not understand what that passage says. It is funny that is saying that people shouldn't judge that you yourself are making a judgment.
You cannot try to correct a brother in the Lord with the language you just used. That alone needs to be repented for.
As for Joel in the ministry, he is leaving out very important biblical concepts including sin, repentance, and the depravity of man which if not preached will lead many souls to hell. You aught to be concerned about that.

There is only one truth and one way and that is through the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Our message will not bring the world together... it will tear it from the very foundations. Jesus said that men would hate us because of the fact that we follow him and preach the Gospel.

well my use of words is not as offensive as hearing people say the know historical figures personally and what their words secret meaning is on the account of reading an book & being challenged by ur traditions to have faith in, no that's wrong. was the Gospel ur Gospel or did some outside party introduce the Gospel to u? just cause u have faith in something does or doesn't make it true? can u investigate a event of the past and come up with UR OWN conlusion w/ ur faith aside or no?

What's wrong with Shock & Awe Language toward a fellow Brother? We used Shock & Awe against against Non-Christians! Killing over 1 Million children, women, & elderly Iraqis. All paid for by our Christian American Tax Dollars. Whooo hooo! So what is 1 "F" bomb?
Joel Olsteen isnt leaving out anything. You can't feel his love for God and Jesus? His main point is that, if you have Jesus, one can only see the world in a positive light. I do. Do you?

No, I'm making observations. Joel is lying to them, that's observable. In order to be saved, they must repent, that's an observation.
But when you call me a "Dummy" and a "F**KHEAD" and say "It's no wonder he's worried about Repentance; he needs a ton of it himself.," neither of those are observable. They are therefore judgments.
The only one spreading hate is you. And as far as permission, to judge within the Church, read 1st Corinthians 5. It's not only ok, it is a REQUIREMENT.

That happens when they are told through the word how depraved they are, and how their sin has separated them from God. God is holy and they are not. Joel doesn't do that AT ALL! Look in the Gospels at how Jesus dealt with sinners. he told the truth, even called a Gentile woman a DOG!
